Testing Question
I had unprotected sex with my girl friend 3 times 7-10 days ago. I just found out yesterday I tested positive for HSV-II anti bodies. I never have had any symptoms. When would blood tests reveal she is infected or not (now, a week, a month?)?

Just started the relationship. She's scared to death of STDs. I had never exhibited symptoms, bu got tested anyway. She has not exhibited symptoms as of yet.

What type of test did you have done? IGG type specific? Did you get a numerical result? Without symptoms, it is important to determine if you have had a flase positive test.

HSV 2 IgG Type Spec - 1.28. I think I narrowed down the culprit. I had had unprotected sex with a woman 5 or 6 times over the last 3 years, who said she is disease free. The last time was in July shortly after she started dating another man. She said she was tested in October with no positive results, but I bet if she gets tested today it comes back positive.

PS I also had blood taken for again hoping for a better result (hoping original was a false positive).

I hope you get better answers and it is truly a false +.
You may want to consider a Western Blot for a definitive answer.
