Question Anyone taking daily Valtrex???

Well I've had type II since the end of May. I know that I haven't been around here lately, things have just been kind of hectic, and I can't always dedicate time to spend here.

So I've been having OB's about once a month, shortly after my period...which really sucks because my hubby and I want to start trying for number 2. Kind of hard to hit the "magic" week when I'm in the middle of an OB. I'm going to put a call into my Dr. about supressive therapy. But I was wondering if anyone out here is taking Valtrex daily, and how it's working for them. Is it really helping to curb the OB's?? I can handle them, as they really aren't as bad as I had thought, but for crying out loud we want to get pregos!

Any input will be greatly appreciated!
Go Badgers!
M.

I was diagnoised with GH not too long ago but do take Valtrex daily. I've only had one OB and that was before I knew what it was. So far iv'e been good but mind you I've only had this for about a month and a half. I know that OB's tend to happen right around your menstral cycle (not looking forward to that) but with the Valtrex im hoping that won't happen. When i first started taking it I was on 1GM twice a day (when i had my OB) then I moved to 500 mg once a day. I take mine at night right before i go to bed. It spreds the pill taking out. I take my vitamins in the morning. So far everything has been going great with it. Best of luck on getting prego! Hope it all works out. Keep me posted

Default I'm on it too

i have been taking it also. I was diagnosed just about two weeks ago. Everything had healed then the day before my period I had another OB. My Ob's are very minor but frustrating. I upped my dosage to counteract the OB and it's still here but only a very small bump. My OB's do not turn into blisters, or haven't so far anyway. I'm hoping if I continue on the Valtrex I can get this undercontrol and get my life back because right now this is all I think about. I'm taking vitamins as well. I will let you know how it goes!

I am curious...how long do you Ob's last? I want to have a family someday too...and I don't want this taking over my life!

Thanks for all the support. I know that people all over this huge planet have children all the time with GH. My OB/GYN was very helpfull in explaining how subsequent pregnancies will be handled given my status.

The problem is that my hubby doesn't have GH, but I do (huge long story there)...at any rate I really don't want to pass it to him. It's just so difficult when we want to have another baby and my OB's are timed just perfectly.

For the record, my first OB was the longest (I'm sure I had a few just all strung together) but that lasted over a month. My subsequent OB's have only lasted a few days with little discomfort. So the Valtrex has been working when I take it per episode. Of course I'm wondering if taking it once daily really suppresses the OB's....

Keep me posted, and if there's anyone out there taking Valtrex (suppressive therapy) how's it working???

Best wishes!
