This is good news, thanks for posting. It states:
Coridon’s Herpes vaccine, which was recently announced to be 100% effective in protecting animals against Herpes Simplex Virus 2 infection, incorporates the NTC8485 antibiotic-free expression vector.
Come to the "Chat Room", there you will find many nice fellow Herpsters who can offer you their support.
Why is this good news for us. Is this because the vaccine wont kill off the good bacteria.
It is good news since this is practically the final step before human trials, which should be announced very soon i would suspect.
I sure hope that is the case. I'm tired of having this curse!
So, is this for prevention of HSV or are they talking about a cure?? I may be a little dense but I didn't pick up which it was. I thought it was for prevention.
the vaccine is intended for those not already infected with hsv-2. I am guessing it will be sort of like the hpv vaccine and/or possibly a vaccine given to infants eventually.
the vaccine however has shown it has therapeutic properties in those already infected, it is unclear whether it will ever be used for this purpose however.
It is not a cure for those already infected.
Thanks for clearing that up for me. Guess I will keep waiting for DRACO to come out.
Ian Frazer and his team should get another Nobel Prize if this works. Thank you Coridon for giving us hope.
It's so confusing people, some people say this is both prophylactic and therapeutic vaccine and some others say it's only prophylactic. Which one is true?
Directly from Coridon's press release:
Coridon is developing DNA vaccines for the prevention and treatment for a range of infectious diseases and cancers in humans, utilising the company’s patented technology. Coridon’s DNA vaccine technologies differ from conventional vaccines in that they offer both preventative and therapeutic value.
Looks like Phase 1 is about to begin, Allied just bout more stake in Coridon. I really hope they add HSV 1 to these trials. They would have a huge market if they can come up with a vaccine for both HSV 1 and HSV 2.
quote from article "Coridon’s herpes vaccine program has shown very positive animal data in clearing the virus, with longer term follow up data showing continued persistence of the immune response."
A working vaccine is a start. At least it'll alleviate some of the stigma of having herpes.
Coridon has the components needed to make this a vaccine/cure. The expertise of Professor Frazier founder of Gardasil, the financial backing of Allied Healthcare, 100% protection in pre clinical trials and the recent access to Vector Techology to be used in prophylactic and/or therapeutic DNA vaccines. The cure is coming and Coridon will bring it. I wish they would incorporate HSV 1 and HSV 2 in these trials like GSK did with their vaccine. Why would they only focus on HSV 2? They will be leaving a lot of money on the table. If it works they would make billions.
If they are successful with this vaccine the HSV1 vaccine will follow soon. We only hope. !
I hope we all understand that a vaccine isn't a cure, and that it can only work on persons who are not infected with the virus.
Different companies are making what they are calling "therapeutic" vaccines, which would help those already infected, as well as "prophylactic" ones, which is what you are referring.
Everyone keep in mind that coridon isn't the only companie working on h vaccines. Good news is there are companies specifically working on "therapeutic" vaccines.
Vical, HerpV, and Genocea are all therapeutic vaccines. Please research before making statements that are not entirely accurate. Many people read this forum and will get false information.
Hey donniebrasco, AGREED! Well put..Truly, Ace..
